Blanket of Darkness

I was driving in to work today thinking about why I have felt so…Off. Angry. Irritable.
I have been chalking it up to the tenseness I have been in with the surge of general pain (we suspect RA) in my hands, knees, fingers…
But I don’t think that is all of it.

There is a Blanket of Darkness on our world right now. So much hate and anger. So much distrust. Violence.

For an empathic person such as myself it is hard to filter and sort all the negative energies bombarding us.

The other day I had someone ask me if I saw something on the news. I responded with my usual “I don’t watch the news.”

Which, as usual, started the tirade of “Why don’t you?” “don’t you want to know what’s going on..???”

I can FEEL the negativity in the world, I don’t need to bombard my other senses with it. My soul takes enough of a hit.

Then this morning I realized something. The Blanket of Darkness is not complete. It has gaping holes of Light in it. It’s like a moth eaten old wool blanket.

There is light and laughter and love shining through if we just SEE it. And FEEL it. I see it every day in my own home. My children and my wife. I see it in some posts on social media (Even though I HATE social media..I REALLLLLY do….)

I am pagan and an empath. I FEEL. The catch is, feeling the light and dark of the world and balancing them in myself. Start small, and grow big.

Compassion and Acceptance

THIS IS A MEANDERING POST! As we all know, this is all about MY VIEW of our world and universe. 

Compassion and Balance of Values.
There is a definite lack of compassion in all aspects of our world. Religious beliefs systems, political systems, personal beliefs.
Our world is full of different people. This seems like a simple-minded statement, but if you think about it you will see the complexity of it. Follow the path of thought and see if you can understand tendrils that are snaking out from that concept alone. And from that concept, do you see the possible need to have sympathy for the plights and feelings of others?
This is not to say be a bleeding heart liberal. This is saying have a balance of virtue that allows us to truly understand the views of both sides and accept one another. Balancing your life, your energies, your spirit and body, will allow you to be …if not happy, then more fulfilled in your pursuit. As a Pagan, I follow a basically written, complex tenet: Do what ye will, an harm ye none.

My belief boils down to this:
EVERYTHING you do, feel, say will come back to you. Our lives are made up the energy that we are. If you are negative, grumpy, angry, that WILL come back to bite you in the ass.
Conversely, if you are positive, happy, NOT grumpy, NOT angry – The Universe, Goddess, Karma, what have you, sees this and repays you in kind.

HOWEVER! Understand something! We are human. We will be happy, sad, negative, energetic, positive. The catch is BALANCING your yin and yang. With, preferably for the rest of us, a balance on the positive side.

Life is about a Balance. I accept that most of the people in my life are Different Than Me. I accept that not everyone is willing to accept others. I try to show others the aspects of Energy and what their energy does to those surrounding them. Simply clamming up and not talking to us does nothing. For those of us that are empathic, we will feel what you are feeling.

Be aware of who and what you are. Notice what you are sending out and what you are receiving. Karma is self-governing, folks.

This leads in to another aspect of “balance and compromise.” There are few things in this world that are TRULY black and white and will not brook compromise to a certain extent. That being said, politicians need to pull their heads OUT OF THEIR ASSES AND STOP PULLING THE “Oh!! I are Repooblican! I must ONLY VOTE REPUBLICAN!” Shut up, dumbass….  But I digress..

Music…Again.

So, I was working from home and I was looking for some heavy Industrial to listen to. As many of you may or may not know, I love techno/dance music. I am also a HUGE FAN of Industrial. I know, go figure.

I came across this:

I spent the next hour on and off looking through these videos and the talent and grace a lot of these dancers possess. Plus the music is AMAZING.

“OH NOES! Danuin has opened up that can o’ worms!”
I have been holding off on talking about this. It’s such a stupidly touchy subject, especially with the Christian friends.

I figure this is a perfect time to bring it up.

I am pagan.  Shamanistic Wiccan to be exact.  I pull my beliefs from the old world. Healing and mediation. This is who I am. This is who I have always been. Don’t try to change me. Don’t force your beliefs on me. I will reciprocate.

I have posted on Facebook time and again that there needs to be more acceptance. We live in a society especially, a world in general, that is based upon forcing your views and beliefs on others. This is why I follow my own Path. I do not participate in Covens. I do not go to Circles. Everything I do is for ME. Not for someone else. Not for the Goddess or her Consort. Not to raise eyebrows and cause people to think I am looking for attention. This. Is. For. Me.

One of my nieces recently asked me: What exactly does being Wiccan entail? are there rules, or certain things one has to do to be a Wiccan?

My response to her:

Being Wiccan/Pagan/heathen is, to ME, about energy. There is one MAJOR rule that we try to follow and it comes down to:
An Harm ye None, do what ye will.

ALL energy you send out come back to you 3 times (This is part of the Rede above, the Three Times Law). Be it good or bad, Karma will find you.

Mind the Three-fold Laws you should three times bad and three times good.
When misfortune is enow wear the star upon your brow.

Be true in love this you must do unless your love is false to you.

These Eight words the Rede fulfill:

“An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will”

Music appreciation and it’s relationship to Intelligence

I have had a couple of interesting conversations with my oldest daughter about perceptions of musical tastes. Personally, I will listen to anything that catches my ear. Country, western, opera, musicals, 30s, 40s, 50s..Metal, classical, techno.
As Kaitlynn and I were driving one day she mentioned that she doesn’t understand the thought process that states “Because you like ‘Singer A’ you CAN’T like ‘Singer C’! They are totally different and it’s just not possible!”

Really?  It’s not?  So..because I like D.J. Tiesto I can’t like Beethoven?  Or because I like Megadeth I can’t like Pantera?  Or because I like Lacuna Coil I can’t like ..say..Firewind or Evanescence?

In my travels and life I have actually come across people that state the above.  I have found these people to have limited intelligence and limited imagination. They tend to live in a very truncated and lonely world that has no color or beauty. And I am sad for them. They do not have the joy and beauty that is music.  They won’t enjoy some of the visuals from music videos or their own imaginations. They won’t enjoy the incredible beauty and joy that is Cirque de Soleil.

OK, another short one, had to get it off my chest.
